Ngebray.com,- Hongkong pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong has been imprisoned for illegal assembly. Wong was jailed for his role in the 2014 protests known as he Umbrella Revolution. One of activist, Nathan Law said, “I can say with certainty, no matter what today’s outcome is, we are free in our hearts. Everything that we do, we can face up to the justice and the values we believe in.”
The party colleague Nathan Law and student leader Alex Chow were also sent to prison. Wong, Law, and Chow will spend six, eight and seven months in prison respectively. Under Hong Kong law, the sentences bar the three from standing as candidates in elections for five years. The ruling spurred pro-democracy chants inside and outside of the High Court of Hong Kong.
