Total Solar Eclipse Rise Up American Enthusiasm,- Million of Americans were transfixed by a total solar eclipse on Monday, which raced from Oregon to South Carolina, beginning around 1pm ET. It likely was the most-watched solar eclipse in history, with an estimated 200 million people within a day’s drive of the zone of totality. From sports fields, to campgrounds, to wedding ceremonies… Americans across the country paused to view the spectacle.

Many prominent politicians were seen taking a glance, including President Donald Trump, who watched with protective glasses from the White House. In Nashville, Tenn., a flock of flamingoes reacted to the eclipse by coming together as the city’s zoo descended in complete darkness. It was the first time since 1918 that a total solar eclipse crossed the U.S. from coast to coast.
