Former Football Star Wins Liberia’s Election,- Former FIFA World Player of the Year George Weah has been elected Liberia’s new president. Vice President Joseph Boakai conceded on Friday, congratulating the ex-soccer star. Weah received 61.6 percent of the ballots while Boakai received 38.5 percent. The election is the first democratic transfer of power in Liberia in more than 70 years.
