Ngebray.com,- A 104 year old Australian scientist David Goodall will fly to Switzerland to end his own life. Goodall says his quality of life has deteriorated arguing he should have the right to decide whether to live.
Goodall who plans to die in the city of Basel in early May told ABC Australia, “I’m not happy. I want to die”. Going on to say it’s sad particularly. What is sad is if one is prevented. His announcement caused debate over the ethics of medically assisted suicide which is illegal in every Australian state except Victoria which will allow voluntary euthanasia for terminally ill patients. However it won’t go into effect until 2019.
Goodall also made the news when Edith Cowan University attempted to force him to work at home in 2016. The university said the ecologist posed the safety risk to himself by commuting every day. But eventually they back down.
